To the south Spur Rail Services (SSRS) occurs as Western Australian owned railroad company providing a numbers efficacious choice for terminal operations & short haul rail services to the rail conveyance industry. These are the personal owned & operated business whose shareowner came from either the Westrail background.
South Spur Rail have a total of contracts for hauling ballast, rail & sleeper trains. Within Perth, South Spur also provide hook-&-pull services for the Pacific National SeaTrain service between Kewdale Freight Terminal and Fremantle Port.
It as well work a Restaurant Train service known as the Spirit of the West, using Australian Railway Historical Society coaches, under an offshoot company known as a Midland Railway Company. This is an appropriation of a title of the previous Midland Railway Company that was the Midland-Junction to Romp (touching Geraldton) railway line operator.
